LudvikStajanLudvik Stajan (August 3, 1927 - March 15, 2012) passed away peacefully in his home, shortly after enjoying a final breakfast with his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Slavka. For better or worse, he was always her “honey”. An extremely proud Canadian, Ludvik also had great pride in his Slovenian heritage and was committed to supporting the growth of the Slovenian community in Toronto. His voluntary and philanthropic endeavors were many, but it was his ability to remain humble that made him a leader, and more importantly, just “one of the boys”. He thoroughly enjoyed life through people, laughter, music, hockey and the occasional scotch on the rocks. As the co-founder of ABC Fire Door, Ludvik turned a small family business into a successful company. Although he enjoyed the challenges that came with running his own business, the most gratifying part was going to work everyday with his sons, and eventually, his grandsons. Ludvik touched the lives of his children with his infectious smile and generosity, maintaining his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end despite the difficulty of his last few months. Loving father of Bill & wife Mary, Mike & wife Nada, Andrea & husband Stan Ferkul, Carol & husband Kevin LaPlante and the late Robert. He will be sadly missed by his adoring fan club of grandchildren: Jason (Jeannia), Marty (Julie), Michael (Irena), Thomas, Michelle, Matthew (Katie), Nadia, Maya, David, Mark, Jake, Jenna, Robert, Jonathan and his great grandchildren Jackson, Joshua, Juno, Benjamin and Ava. Ludvik will also be greatly missed by his many brothers, sisters, extended family and friends in Canada and Slovenia. A special thank you to Diana for all her care. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. West, on Saturday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral mass to be held at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 739 Browns Line, on Monday at 10:00 a.m.; interment to follow at Mt. Peace Catholic Cemetery, Mississauga. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dom Lipa would be appreciated by the family. Messages of condolences may be placed at www.RidleyFuneralHome.com.
